The Phoenix HG15 is a single-channel evolution of Thermionic Culture’s legendary Phoenix Stereo Compressor, offering the same smooth “variable mu” compression curve that naturally transitions toward limiting at higher settings. Designed as both a mic preamp and compressor/EQ, the HG15 brings Thermionic’s signature “super-natural” valve tone to vocals, guitars, strings, and more. With enhanced gain for microphone inputs—including condenser and dynamic types—it serves as both a clean amplifier and a character tool with adjustable “Presence” and “Air” EQ options. Switching in compression reveals its hallmark warmth and glue, while the side chain bass cut ensures clarity on low-heavy sources. The HG15’s output attenuator enables subtle drive or bold saturation control, making it equally powerful on individual sources or as a stereo pair for mix bus work.
